Alaia

In my continued quest for developing my artistic skills, I wanted to create a doll that reflected serenity and vitality, and Alaia the Faerie was born.

She is costumed in silk and antique lace.  Her translucent wings reflect the light and have a slight iridescence when looked at closely. Her hair is created from Tibetan mohair.

 

Alaia's base has been sculpted into a pond shape and decorated with ferns, stones and other materials.  It has been carefully hand painted over several days to build up realism layer by layer.

As you can see, I have used the finest materials and much care has gone in her construction. 

Alaia is exactly 4 1/4 inches in her seated position with a wingspan of 4 1/2 inches.
