Carol

I have decided to call this doll Carol as she is the picture of youth and innocence, which the name suggests.

She is made from Li-qua-Che, a pourable papier mache, which despite its fragile quality, is a very strong and versatile medium, entirely suitable for doll making. It has a smooth, satiny texture which resembles porcelain and gives a realistic appearance to the doll.

Every aspect of her creation has extreme attention to detail.  Her eyes are green and further accentuated by a touch of gold eye shadow. Her lips are a soft coral. She is fashionably dressed in a style predominant in the 1870's, where the previous fashion of hoops was dispensed with and the bustle born.

Her clothing is made entirely from silk.  Her inner clothing contains lace trimmed silk pantaloons and a petticoat.  Her skirt is made from panels of deep turquoise blue silk charmeuse.  The rest of her dress is made in a delightful blue plaid silk with accents of lavender and purple.  The aquamarine lace which borders the base of her skirt is hand crocheted in silk.  The beautiful white cotton lace which borders the rest of her gown is decorated with delicate beadwork.

Her hat is a delightful concoction of  roses, dried flowers, lace and trim.  Her hair has been taken up on the sides and falls in soft waves about her shoulders.  She is wearing delicate jewelry and carries a leather valise which gives the appearance that she is about to embark on a journey of sorts.

She stands at about 5 1/2 inches tall and is a perfectly scaled dollhouse miniature.  She is absolutely beautiful and would be a worthy addition to a miniature household.

This doll is sold, but I undertake commission work. For details, availability and pricing, you may contact me at info@magicminiatures.com
