Grace
Grace has been poured, dressed, painted and costumed by me. The original sculpture is by the doll artist, Stacy Hofman. Her hands are by Dawn Adams.
She has been poured in Flumo, which is a wonderful doll material and lends a beautiful translucent and satiny effect to the doll.
Grace has dark grey eyes and coral lips. Her eyes are framed by dark eyelashes which add depth and mystery. She is costumed as per the 1860's, and wears Swiss batiste pantaloons and a crinoline petticoat. Her dress is made using various types of silk in complimentary shades of peach.
Her skirt is made from a hand woven Indian silk which is known as "Jamawar". It is an ancient hand woven technique India learnt from Turkestan in the 15th century. The beautiful weave is apparent in the gold threads running through her peach skirt. This fabric although challenging to work with gives wonderful results once draped correctly. Her overskirt, which goes halfway up her bodice is made in a lighter shade of peach chamois silk. Her bodice is a form fitting shade of russet. A delicate antique lace has been used to trim the outfit, giving it a few subtle touches here and there whilst not detracting from her elaborate gown.
Her fingernails have been painted a soft coral to match her lips and her only jewelry is a pair of delicate pearl earrings. Her hair is a light brown and swept away from her face, with several curls framing her face and back of her head. A delicate enamel floral embellishment has been used as a hair ornament to off-set her hairstyle.
She stands at about 5 3/4 inches and is a perfectly scaled dollhouse miniature.
She is a versatile doll and would look wonderful anywhere in your dollhouse. Her hands bend at the elbows and can be posed in various ways. She could also easily fit into an elaborate setting or perhaps you could just add her to a doll collection, where she will stand out as a unique handcrafted piece.
Grace is for sale for $229 including shipping.
