Marion
Marion has been poured, painted
and dressed by me, but the original sculpture is by the doll artist, Doreen
Sinnett. She is made from Flumo, a strong and
versatile medium, entirely suitable for doll making. It has a smooth
texture which closely resembles porcelain while giving a realistic appearance to the doll.
Her
arms and head can be posed the way you want.
Every aspect of her creation has extreme
attention to detail. Her eyes are green and her lips a soft coral. A
touch of blush accentuates her cheekbones. She is fashionably dressed in a style
predominant in the 1870's, where the previous fashion of hoops was dispensed
with and the excess fabric was moved to the back of the outfit and the bustle
born.
Her outer clothing is made from the finest quality silk.
Her inner clothing contains lace trimmed chiffon drawers and a petticoat.
Her petticoat is made in panels which serve to flatter her form and give support
and layers to her outer clothing. She is wearing a ball gown, which has a silk
paneled skirt in a dusty pink, trimmed with several layers of beige lace.
Her skirt tunic is made from a beige, cream and pink checkered pattern which has
been interwoven with circles. Her bodice is the same shade of pink as her
skirt and has been trimmed in silk lace and tiny flowers. Her dress is
complimented by a glorious train made in beige silk and elaborately decorated
with roses, leaves, flowers, lace and trim.
Her upswept hairstyle has been shaped into a
wonderful top-knot with residual strands being shaped into a ringlet which falls
halfway down her back. Tendrils frame her face. Her jewelry and hair
ornament are made from small pearls in colours to match her gown.
She stands at under 6 inches tall
and is a perfectly scaled dollhouse miniature. Pose her in a grand
ballroom setting holding out her arm for a kiss or just add her to your doll
collection.
